About Us
Founded in 1973 during the construction of the Idukki Dam, Newman Lower Primary School was established under the visionary leadership of the CMC Sisters. With the support of Rev. Fr. Thomas Malekkudy, Rev. Fr. Vettavarpadam, Rev. Fr. Vallamattam, and then CMC Provincial Rev. Sr. Victima, the school began as an English medium nursery and first grade to serve the children of KSEB staff and migrant workers.
Classes were initially held in the parish church with great support from the local community. Early educators like Sr. Pushpa, Sr. Georgina, Sr. Teresa, and Sr. Justy laid the foundation of value-based education. By 1982, thanks to the tireless efforts of Rev. Sr. Grace Mary, the institution gained recognition as an aided Malayalam medium school. Today, Newman L.P. School continues its mission of nurturing young minds in the spirit of faith, excellence, and service.
ഞങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച്
1973-ൽ ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിന്റെ നിർമ്മാണ കാലത്ത് സി.എം.സി. സന്യാസിനികളുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ ന്യൂമാൻ എൽ.പി. സ്കൂൾ, അന്നത്തെ കുടിയേറ്റ തൊഴിലാളികൾക്കും കെ.എസ്.ഇ.ബി ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർക്കും വേണ്ടി തുടങ്ങിയ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് മീഡിയം നഴ്സറി സ്കൂളാണ്. ഈ ദൗത്യത്തിനായി റവ.ഫാ. തോമസ് മലേക്കുടി, റവ.ഫാ. വെട്ടവാർപ്പാടം, റവ.ഫാ. വള്ളമറ്റം, സീ.എം.സി പ്രൊവിൻഷ്യൽ റവ.സിസ്റ്റർ വിക്ടിമ എന്നിവരുടെ നേതൃപങ്ക് നിർണായകമായിരുന്നു.
തുടക്കത്തിൽ ഇടുക്കി പള്ളിയിൽ ക്ലാസുകൾ നടത്തി. ആദ്യം പഠിപ്പിച്ച സിസ്റ്റേഴ്‌സായി സിസ്റ്റർ പുഷ്പ, സിസ്റ്റർ ജോർജീന, സിസ്റ്റർ ടെറസ, സിസ്റ്റർ ജസ്റ്റി എന്നിവരായിരുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് സിസ്റ്റർ ഗ്രേസ് മേരിയുടെ പരിശ്രമത്തിൽ 1982-ൽ സ്കൂളിന് എയ്ഡഡ് അംഗീകാരം ലഭിക്കുകയും മലയാളം മീഡിയം സ്കൂൾ ആയി മുന്നേറുകയും ചെയ്തു. മൂല്യാധിഷ്ഠിത വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിലൂടെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ വളർത്തുന്ന ദീർഘകാലം ഈ വിദ്യാലയം നിർവഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
